Designed by Santiago Calatrava and Félix Candela, and built between 1996 and 2006, this complex occupies approximately 35 hectares in the former Turia riverbed. Its forms are inspired by nature: an “eye” (Hemisfèric), the skeleton of a whale (Príncipe Felipe Museum), and large domes like those of L'Oceanogràfic.
L'Oceanogràfic is the largest aquarium in Europe, with more than 45,000 animals of hundreds of different species, tanks of multiple ecosystems and a 70-meter underwater tunnel.
